Wednesday, July 13, 2022
The Henry and Stark County Health Department, First Choice Healthcare, and the Henry County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) note that due to the continued high demand for 2nd Covid Booster and Vaccination appointments; they will now be holding “Walk-In Wednesday” 2nd Covid-19 Booster & Vaccination Clinics on July 13th & July 27th at both their First Choice Healthcare locations in Kewanee, and now also, in Colona.
These “Walk-In Clinics” will be held from 10:00am-3:00pm at 110 N. Burr Blvd., Kewanee and 103 1st Street, Colona. In addition, many local pharmacies have these vaccinations by appointment as well.
The Health Department & First Choice Healthcare’s Covid-19 vaccination services offer both the Pfizer and Moderna Covid vaccines. In addition to the 2nd Covid Booster doses, we continue to offer Covid-19 MODERNA vaccinations for those 18 years and older; and PFIZER initial and booster vaccinations for those 5 years and older; and the initial MODERNA (2-Shot Series) for 6 months to 5 years of age at “Walk-In” clinics at both First Choice Healthcare locations, 110 N. Burr Blvd., Kewanee (309) 852-5272 and 103 1st St., Colona (309) 792-4011.
On June 18, 2022 the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) approved Covid-19 vaccination for young children who are at least 6 months old. Parents and caregivers can now get their children 6 months through 5 years of age vaccinated with either the Moderna (2-Shot Series) or Pfizer (3-Shot Series) vaccines to better protect them from Covid-19. All children, including children who have already had Covid-19, should get vaccinated.
The FDA has approved a second Covid-19 Booster dose for adults 50 years and older, and for certain immunocompromised patients aged 12-49 years. Also, adults who received the Johnson & Johnson primary vaccine may receive a second booster dose of a mRNA (Pfizer/Moderna). The additional booster doses may be administered at least 4 months after the previous booster dose.
