With the New Pfizer & Moderna Bivalent Boosters now available; which one should I get? And, what does Bivalent even mean?
First off "Bivalent" means it's half original strain, and half Omicron BA.4, BA.5. These are the strains most prevalent throughout the world.
The Pfizer bivalent booster vaccine is recommended for people age 12 and older. The Moderna bivalent booster vaccine is recommended for people age 18 and older. Both vaccines can be given two months after a primary vaccine series or booster vaccination. The bivalent vaccines can only be used for a single booster dose.
THAT MEANS - ADULTS 18+ CAN GET EITHER BIVALENT BOOSTER – as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has given the green light for safely mixing and matching the shots. So the Choice is Yours – just make sure you’re protected and up-to-date - so get the vaccine that is easiest to get and available to you!
