Adult New Bivalent Moderna Covid Booster & Flu Vaccine Clinic (Geneseo)

Tuesday, October 11, 2022

The Henry and Stark County Health Departments announce they will be sponsoring Adult Flu and New Moderna Bivalent Covid-19 Booster Shot Clinics at various sites throughout the area in October.  According to the CDC, flu activity most commonly peaks in the US in January or February; so this is a great time to get your Seasonal Flu shot and New Bivalent Covid Booster.

Those eligible for the Moderna Bivalent Single Booster Dose Vaccine Clinic include:
•    Participants at least 18 years of age
•    Those who have completed their primary Covid-19 vaccination series.
•    Those who have received their most recent primary series or booster dose at least two months prior to receiving the new bivalent booster shot.
•    All participants must wear a masks.

These clinics are for adults 18 years of age and older only.  Covid Booster and Flu shots will be given on a traditional “Walk-In” basis.

There is No Cost for the Bivalent Covid-19 Boosters.  Flu shots may be administered at No-Charge to those who have Medicare Part-B and some insurance plans are accepted.  You must, however, bring your Medicare and/or Insurance card with you in order to receive the flu shots.  The cost of this year’s flu shot, for those paying cash, is $30.

This year the Health Department is pleased to announce that we will be administering the 4-component Quadrivalent Seasonal Flu shot at all our upcoming community flu clinics and through our First Choice Healthcare locations in Kewanee and Colona. We believe this vaccine is going to give our area residents the most comprehensive protection from the Influenza this year.

People at high risk of serious flu and Covid complications are strongly encouraged to be vaccinated.  These "at-risk" persons include small pregnant women, people with chronic health problems like asthma, diabetes, smokers, heart and lung disease, health care workers, and people 65 years and older.

For Children's Flu Vaccine, call the Health Department’s First Choice Healthcare locations in Kewanee (309) 852-5272 and Colona (309) 792-4011 for pricing and availability information.

The Health Department reminds individuals to practice Flu and Covid preventative measures: wear a mask when in public and congregate settings; observe social distances of 6 ft; clean hands frequently; cover your nose and mouth when coughing; and contain spread of infections by staying home when you are ill.

For more information on the Health Department's Fall Bivalent Covid Booster & Flu Clinics call the Department at (309) 852-0197 Kewanee or 792-4011 Colona or find us on Facebook at Henry and Stark County Health Departments, or Follow Us On Twitter or Instagram.
